Video calls are a form of communication that uses the internet to transmit audio and video signals between two or more devices. Video calls can be used for various purposes, such as personal chats, business meetings, online education, telemedicine, and entertainment. The incidence of using video call services increases as services are developed that can use/ facilitate this type of communication.

Worldwide, video conferencing has become more popular and accessible in recent years, especially due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the rise of hybrid work models. According to Statista, the global video conferencing market was worth 10.6 billion U.S. dollars in 2022 and is expected to reach 19.1 billion U.S. dollars by 2027. Moreover, 34.9 percent of internet users worldwide reported making video calls using their mobile devices and smartphones in the fourth quarter of 2022, with the highest share in the Philippines and South Africa.
