Internet speed is an important factor for many people who use the internet for various purposes, such as streaming, gaming, working, or learning. In this blog post, we will look at some statistics on internet speed in Europe and worldwide, based on data from Speedtest Global Index, Fair Internet Report, and World Population Review.

Internet speed in Europe

According to Speedtest Global Index, the average mobile internet speed in Europe was 94.76 Mbps in April 2023, while the average fixed broadband speed was 122.39 Mbps. The fastest country in Europe was Denmark, with an average mobile speed of 214.45 Mbps and an average fixed broadband speed of 223.68 Mbps. The slowest country in Europe was Belarus, with an average mobile speed of 25.09 Mbps and an average fixed broadband speed of 29.60 Mbps.

According to Fair Internet Report, the average internet speed in Western Europe was 185.62 Mbps in June 2023, while the average speed in Eastern Europe was 180.9 Mbps. The largest increase in internet speed from 2022 to 2023 was seen in North Macedonia, which improved by 136% from 36.09 Mbps to 85.32 Mbps. The largest decrease in internet speed from 2022 to 2023 was seen in Taiwan, which dropped by 22% from 153.32 Mbps to 119.17 Mbps.

Internet speed worldwide

According to Speedtest Global Index, the average mobile internet speed worldwide was 67.93 Mbps in April 2023, while the average fixed broadband speed was 87.81 Mbps. The fastest country in the world was United Arab Emirates, with an average mobile speed of 351.14 Mbps and an average fixed broadband speed of 238.06 Mbps. The slowest country in the world was Haiti, with an average mobile speed of 14.37 Mbps and an average fixed broadband speed of 9.01 Mbps.

According to World Population Review, the top 10 countries with the fastest mobile internet speeds (Mbps) in 2021 were:
